What does this do for Stantons value? How many holds will he get?

Yup. Minaya is off to a great start. :-P Heradia is gawd awful. Stanton is a veteran, solid performer. What is Minaya thinking?

I'll tip my hat to the Yanks on this one. Great trade, Cashman...

I'll refrain from any "grassy knoll" theories about this trade, just like those I've read recently on this board about the D-Backs "giving away Schilling to the Sox to spite the Yankees". Puh-lease... :-[

Again, good trade, Yankees. I've always liked Stanton.

I can't wait for next year ;-D

Why it surprising that Miaya got screwed? He's an idiot, look at all the stupid trades he made with Expos. Hiring him was one of those things wherer you wondered why the Mets didn't just pick some guy out of a bar and let him run things.

Unfortunately for those of us who have to go watch the new team here, early returns indiacte that Bowden is just as or even more stupid.

The big deal is that the Yankees bulked up their pen today with a Right handed pitcher and a left handed pitcher. Stanton had a great 2 years with the yankees is a avg 3 era pitcher. with a 6/9ip ratio, he will a big boost out of the pen = holds

We just have to disagree on Stanton. I think he's over the hill and will not have much of an impact. Just my opinion.

Rodriguez, on the other hand, will be a great benefit. But that's another issue.

This is a bad trade in some ways for both teams.

Stanton could be effective again if used in moderation but he just went across town to a team that abused their relievers as bad as the Mets did last year. So unless things change in the Bronx Stanton won't be effective for them.

With all things being equal I'd rather have Stanton but like I said in my blog concerning this issue, getting rid of Stanton was a good thing. If the move is a precursor to other moves to upgrade the bullpen than the trade is fine. If Minaya made the move because he thinks Horredia is better than Stanton and he expects him to fill the role Stanton played last year he's horribly mistaken.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
