Well, that point about older stuff losing value is true for packs as well. Those 2003 Leafs, for example, cost me far less than they would have in '03. As long as it's not an issue heavily loaded with mail-in exchange cards, older packs aren't that bad a way to go.

Besides, there's just something fun about opening a pack...

Agreed. I miss the days of opening countless packs of 1987 Topps. These days, that money is for rent. Oh, and some beer.
