Yeah I know your pissed and have good reason to be.... It was stupid, yeah. But I don't think 'Zona would hurt themselves that badly just to spite the Yankees.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
For the record, only the Yankees have reported that Arizona demanded Johnson and Soriano. And Schilling--who, remember, was acting as his own agent so he was in the know--said that that was never a demand.
I understand your anger and frustration over the fact that the player you feel jobbed about just pitched on one leg to lead the Sox to the Greatest Comeback Ever, but let's deal with facts.
Jeez dude, you should really get over it. You must be a huge Yankees fan to be this bitter. It's as simple as this: Theo beat the Yankees and Phillies with smarts and hustle. You seem to be very knowledgeable about value, but what you may not be factoring in is how Theo swayed Curt by flying out there and actually HAVING THANKSGIVING WITH the whole d**n Schilling family. I think that had a pretty profound effect on Schilling telling AZ where he wanted to go. A really funny thing you also fail to mention is that you can't overlook the almost 50% higher payroll NY had last year. It is really FRIGGIN RIDICOULOUS people think one player, although a very valuable player like Schilling, could win the WS for Boston. RIDICULOUS!!! Your argument doesn't have one good foot to stand on!!!

At one point, Schilling said he only wanted to go to NY or Philly. So I don't know where you are getting your info.

What made Schilling consider the Red Sox was their hiring of Francona. He managed Schilling in Philly, and they got along very well. If the Sox don't hire Francona, he undoubtedly does go to Philly or the Yankees.

That may be true, but I'm convinced he went to Boston to try to win the WS and be imortalized in Boston sports history, and I'd say mission accomplished.
