This is my second year doing fantasy sports, but I have wondered for a while how just how popular fantasy was before, say, a couple years ago. At my school its popularity just seemed to boom about a year ago. Before that, I had only the tiniest exposure to fantasy sports. Now there's a friggin TV show about it! Has fantasy followed a similar progression as poker, in that it was a more or less underground thing until a couple years ago? Also, the cafe's popularity has seemed to boom recently, too.
Fantasy sports popularity is definitely at an all time high and it's because of Fantasy Football which is becoming a cultural phenomenon.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Not as popular as it is now at least not in my experience.

I started with fantasy baseball 4 yrs ago and there were alot of sites on the net about it but in the last couple years there are tv shows, radio shoes and many, many internet sites that help with fantasy. I agree that it is at an all time high and seems to be getting bigger.

At least with FB it's mostly hard core baseball fans. FB is a lot of work (labor of love) so I think it weeds out a lot of the boobs who play FF. It kills me when I go into work and some broad who can barely get her makeup straight is talking about how her FF team lost because Peyton lit up up the scoreboard again.

but FBB has actually been around longer ...
Definitely. I started FB in high school using play-by-mail. This is only my second year of FF.
