Ramon Nivar had two hits yesterday to raise his Dominican Winter League average to .353.
Nivar looked like a borderline choice to make the Rangers' 40-man roster after a disappointing season, but he was kept over prospects like Drew Meyer and Marshall McDougall. What's the deal??? Kid hit close to .400 last year in winter ball (I believe he led the league, not sure though). Hitting .353 this year in winter ball to lead the league. Has great speed and would play OF and make a good, solid leadoff hitter.

Seems he's getting overlooked in my eyes.

I don't know. I always envisioned him as a Juan Pierre type. Put him ahead of the terror squad (heart of the order) and watch the runs pile up.

I'm sure they are a better judge of talent than me, so maybe I'm overvaluing him a bit. Still not sure though.

Dominican Winter League is very offensive orientated so .353 is not that impressive ...

But he has had only 100 MLB AB's, so it way to early to "give up on him"

Just the fact that the Rangers kept him on the roster, says that they are not ready to either.
