I Found 'Em!

Postby Fireball Express » Tue Nov 23, 2004 1:23 am

Digging through my basement I found my old collection of baseball cards packed in shoeboxes inside a plastic bin. It was like I unearthed a time capsule. Sorting through these cards brought back childhood memories and thoughts of baseball seasons past. I came across cards of guys who are now managers (Pinella, Valentine, Mazzilli and others) and guys who have sons playing now (Bob Boone, Tony Armas, Jose Cruz and Bobby Bonds to name a few).

Anyhow, these cards are Topps from the years 74-77. Off hand does anyone know of any cards in particular from these years that would be worth something? I have plenty of big name players. I don't plan on selling them. I just want to hold on to them for keepsake value. Just wondering if I have any real gems.

Cool ;-D ! Nice find! I hope to find my father's old cards one day. :-)

What dollar value would make them worth something?

In order of value of 1974-1977 cards:

1975 Topps George Brett Rookie Card #228 lists for $80.

1975 Topps Robin Yount Rookie Card #223 is $50

1975 Topps Nolan Ryan #500 (obviously not a rookie card) but still lists for $50.

Quite a few that list from $20-$40.

Let me know if there are any specifics you would like me to look up. It's last month's Beckett, but for the older cards, it should be accurate. :-)

Figures! There's a huge chunk of my '75 cards missing. That was the year that my 3rd grade teacher confiscated a bunch for looking at them during class. What a witch! 3rd grade was the year I started hating school. Gee I wonder why. When I heard of her death (at a young age) my reply was a simple "good".
