I don't know much about Quiroz, but I do like Haren a lot. He's got good stuff -- low/mid 90's FB with a nice hard slider with lots of movement. I'm sure Mookie or LBJ can tell you more about Quiroz.

Quiroz seems to have good power but poor avg in the minors. i voted for Haren, but its close and im keeping an on Quiroz since C is so thin and half his games will be at sky dome (but he needs to bring his avg up)

I don't know much about Quiroz, but catchers are always a risk IMO. A lot of times defensive catchers come up and are highly touted, but are rated so high because of defense. Quiroz is decent, but his BA will be bad, he doesn't have much power, and he has no speed whatsoever. In the longrun, who knows? He might blossom at some point. But I'd say the safe bet is Haren. Plus, the Jays never seem to have one catcher, they always have 3 that play significant time throughout a season. It will be a while before Quiroz is our everyday starter I think... especially if his hitting doesn't improve.

Not to rag on you LBJackal, but the question I believe was "who has the highest ceiling".

In which case I'd take a catcher with good power potential over a pitcher that at best should only be a middle to end of the rotation guy.

i like haren from what ive seen but i have really never seen quiroz and dont know much about him so i couldnt judge

Haren's name has been kicked around in a deal to Arizona for the Big Unit.

I voted for Quiroz. He is in position to be Toronto's starting catcher coming out of spring training. He may also play some DH. Haren is still unproven in my opinion. Haren as a good k/9, but he finished last year in AAA with a 4.15 ERA.
