No surprise here. Vlad is the best player in the game bar none (including Bonds).

Thats just uncalled for.

Anyway, how is Bonds in the field? Certainly that matters when a player is claimed to be the best PLAYER in the game and not just hitter.

Vlad, Pujols, and Alex are just three players I'd rather have on my team than Barry

Bonds is probably below average in the field, but would you rather have:

A) a .400 OBP, 1.000 OPS, and a good fielder
B) a .600 OBP, 1.400 OPSand a below-average fielder.

Remember, .400-1.000 is good, but .600-1.400 is godly. Insane. Out of this world.

I'd rather have Bonds than anyone right now.

The AL MVP was not that big of a deal to me. I hadn't made a decision, and therefore it didn't matter as much.

I completely agree with this. Bonds' offense more than outweighs his defensive struggles.

I think this is the first year that I have had no problems with any of the winners: Bay, Crosby, Cox, Showalter, Clemens, Santana, Bonds, Guererro.

Vlad's last two weeks won him the award, but winning this way is not unprecedented. When Chipper won in 1999 he had not made the All-Star game that year.

This and NL Cy were the closest races, and I can't argue either.

In the Battle of the Fruits, a guy mentioned that he couldn't wait to vote his favorite - cherries - through to the next round. To that, Pomplona's Finest said:

I remember when you posted that, StL. I think I responded with, "It's not a formality because yada yada yada" or soemthing to that effect. I wasn't expecting a huge comeback though. That was one of the most memorable playoff series of all time. Probably the most memorable LCS, as far as the ones that I've seen.

Well deserving, Vlad. Did anyone notice 3 out of the top 4 are Dominican?

Also, it's another international sweep of AL CY & MVP. Last was 1999 (Pedro and Pudge).

Pretty hard to argue against any of the three (Vlad/Shef/Manny) laying claim to the award. I went with Sheffield but I'm not at all disappointed with the outcome. Congrats to all three on tremendous seasons.
