Nope, unfortunately he's just 3B.
I think I heard they're going to move him to LF next year, or was that someone else? If that is the case he'll have OF eligibility after the first couple of weeks of '05, not much better, but helps some I guess.
O's are talking like he's set at 3b, saying they will not be looking at any of the free agent 3B, but will focus on OF and 1B in free agents.
OK, I usually don't have my facts straight. I'm the only Cafe member who needs two sources to confirm any speculations I post.
We might as well add Jay Gibbons to the list at 1B and OF if he hasnt been mentioned yet.
Maybe take a late round flier on him.
His power to hit over 30 HR's has always been there since 2001. 2002 he again showed his ability to hit HR's with 28 in 490 at bats. 2003 his HR's werent at what was expected of him, but he hit for a higher AVE .276 than most people expected of him with 100 RBI's. We all know about last years dissapointment.
Whats the deal with his laser eye surgery? Is uncertainty the reason the Orioles are looking for 1B help? With Palmeiro and Gibbons, why are the Orioles still looking for 1B help?
If his vision is 100%, I would consider Gibbons after the 20th round.

Palmeiro is penciled in as DH, not 1B, and will probably not play against lefties, much.
I think Gibbons is just too injury prone to hope for too much. The Orioles non-tendered him, so he may be headed elsewhere. The O's are looking for 1B/OF help because they feel they need righthanded power.

I don't think so. He never stole more than 15 bases even in the minors, so I can't see him doing that, especially considering the fact that he won't bat in the top of the order.
His power numbers have been getting better, but he's never been much of a power hitter. 20 might be possible, but I'd be surprised if he could get to 25.
If Ryan Freel remains a starter I'd put him on the list - he stole 37 bases last year. Although I think they may be experimenting with Kearns at 3rd base.
