The Angels, Diamondbacks and Marlins have discussed a three-team trade sending Randy Johnson to Anaheim. As part of the deal, the Marlins would get Jose Guillen and sent Jason Stokes to the Diamondbacks. Arizona would also want pitching from the Angels. Anaheim doesn't want to lose Scot Shields, but he might have to be included in order to acquire Johnson. Nov. 14 - 1:03 pm et Source: Los Angeles Times
Jose Guillen - OF - Angels
The Marlins are believed to be interested in acquiring Jose Guillen from the Angels. The Marlins could help out Anaheim's pursuit of Randy Johnson by giving up Jason Stokes for Guillen. GM Larry Beinfest doesn't have much else to offer and he already has a right fielder making more than Guillen in Juan Encarnacion. Guillen's an upgrade, but probably not enough of one to make a trade a good idea. Nov. 14 - 1:03 pm et Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel
I think they were one of the finalists last year weren't they just because he has a home in Arizona or somewhere near there? Nothing against the Angels, but if he wants a champoinship he should go east IMO. I don't think he's enough to put ANA over the top, I could be wrong -- like I usually am on these things. Just my $.02.
I think this makes some sense. The Angels have some good yong players to entice Arizona and they would be getting a huge boost to the team while moving Guillen, a guy they don't want anymore.

i think a rj addition to the angels would definitely put the angels as a bigtime championship contender......of course boston and the yanks will still be the favorites but i imagine the angels could give them a run for their money in a playoff matchup especially having to face rj twice in a series......i think it would be a great move the angels as u know they have no need in guillen anyways.....

How does Sele being in the deal mean Arizona gets more? Sele is a joke. I agree Arizona should get more, but Sele is not the answer. I would go after Donnelly personally.
And I do think this deal is enough to put Anaheim over the top. They would be getting the hands-down best SP available (and IMO, the best SP in the league). What else do they need to be considered the favorite? RJ, Escobar, Bartolo, Washburn, Lackey....pretty good rotation. Obviously the offense doesn't need Guillen to be one of the best. Add to that the fact that Rodriguez is now going to close and you have yourself a World Series berth IMO.
RJ has a no trade clause. He may have a home in Arizona but I still think he will end up living in Manhattan from April until November. Then in the desert. He has stated his first choice is the Yankees.
