As for Kent, at 37, he's not someone I'd look at rebuilding around. Still good, but you never know when a player might lose it. A good gamble for 2005, but past that, I don't know.

I'm taking what I can get for Kent, and if it's a last round draft pick so be it.

I think you have enough room to keep Kent and not sacrifice anything for the future. You might not win next year, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep your best players. Someone might not want to trade much for him now, but I think he's still got some gas in the tank. I guarantee someone will trade more for him at the trade deadline. Patience is the key. If you lock yourself into a "must trade now" mentality, you're going to lose.
