Well the putting pressure on the defense and pitcher I don't really go for all that much, but getting the extra base whenever you want (which is what Beltran did this season) has a great value.

Yeah for sure it helps, but not a great deal like it does in fantasy. Other than SB's and age, they're about the same, that was my point. And still, I believe Maggs will bring greater value to the team that signs him. Defense, yeah I'd rather have a top 5 CF like Beltran than a top 5 RF like Maggs. But Maggs is definately no slouch in RF, which is the second most important OF position.

Evidence to support my disbelief that RISP doesn't put more pressure on pitching and the defense? League batting averages with RISP almost every year is the same or lower than averages without RISP. The same goes for SLG, ISO, and OPS. OBP is normally a little higher due to the extra IBB to create double play situations.
