i agree as well....mattingly was as good as there was for about 5 or 6 years, but saying that dale murphy was also as good a player as there was in baseball for about 5 years or so and he did not make it to the hall of fame either...so i cant say for certain that mattingly would have made it to the hall without the injury.......
