Where will Kline end up?

Postby Pogotheostrich » Mon Nov 08, 2004 3:05 pm

I heard some speculation about the Yankees and could only smile and laugh. I would love to see him try some his crazy stuff in New York. How long after he flips Torre the bird do you think he would be on a bus for Tampa?

Really I don't know who wouldn't want a quality lefty out of the pen though. He could end up just about anywhere.

The only real rumors I've been hearing are NYY and BOS maybe. That would be interesting if he pulled something like that in New York though. :-D

No matter where he ends up, I'm going to miss him a lot. What am I supposed to do with my Steve Kline dirty hat now?

I think that Kline could even close somewhere. Toronto, Chicago?

Let's hope not. Remember that Kline had to close for a bit when Izzy was out in '03. He didn't do so hot, and his head was out of whack the rest of the season because of it.

You're right that he's got the stuff to be an average closer, he's meant to be a setup guy. It's just how he is.

I don't think he would really make a good closer. I'm not sure why, but not having an overpowering fastball doesn't help. Plus lefty specialists as good as him are used more situationally than as closers though aren't they? :-?
