i'm looking at both of these and was wondering if anyone knew much about them. i've heard good things about both but was curious which one you think is the better value. (money doesn't grow on trees you know; why pay more if its not worth it? :-D ) i don't really need too much on there, just something to take on road trips and such. thanks.

OK I just downloaded iTunes, and something weird is happening.....

I'm on a LAN network at school, and when I clicked "scan for files" it's showing me the files from other peoples' computers 8-o

The guy who lives beside me, on the same LAN network, is named Myles. One of the four folders showing up in my library is "Myles' Music". And there are 3 others, full of all kinds of songs that I can play but I never downloaded any of them. WTF is going on? Another folder is "T-Dot Soldia's Music". I live near Toronto, AKA the T-Dot, so I guess I'm getting 4 people's libraries filling up my own.

Anybody else ever have this happen? And how the hell can I instantly play thousands of songs I never downloaded?!?!?!?! It's kinda cool though...

OK I was talking to somebody in one of my classes today, and it turns out he is "T-Dot Soldia" :-b

Anybody who opens iTunes in my townhouse complex has access to all the libraries of everybody who lives here. And hundreds of people live in the townhouses. Seems weird how they all play instantly, but I'm not complaining.

Simple, they're sharing their music. It happens a lot in college dorms/apartments. Simply right click a folder and click "Sharing and Security."

i have a dell dj 20 gb, and i love it. id definitely recommend it over the ipod.
drawbacks though are you have to use music match jukebox and its a tad bigger than the ipod, but not enough to make a big deal.

This isn't ture. Ipod batteris last longer than 18 months (My brother has had one for 3+ years) and then can be replaced by Apple.

Well I guess it depends how often you use it for how loong the abtteries will last. But from what I understand, the DJ has 2 batteries of the same type as iPod's one battery. I guess if you used eitehr of them enough, the battery would die sometime, or get really short on time between charging. The the DJ having 2 batteries as opposed to iPod's 1 seems like a pretty big bonus to me.

Also, are you sure Apple can replace the battery? I've heard people who are biased towards Apple admit that when the battery dies you can't replace it :-? Do you're saying you just send it back and they'll give you a new battery? I imagine there's a decent fee that comes along with that though.
