"Don't mess with Texas!".
Lmao!
I know a while ago I heard something about the taxes there being especially low, or not at all...
Can you help me out there?
Are you talking about the fact that there is no state income tax in Texas? The basic idea behind it is that there is supposedly a higher sales tax to make up for part of the revenues the state misses out on due to having no state income tax. However, it turns out that because the state is so large and we have the sheer numbers to make up for it, our sales tax isn't really that out of line with most other states, it's usually right around 8%. I go to school in Oklahoma, and they do have a state income tax, all while their sales tax is still over 8% in most places.
This is the reason that Texas attracts so many corporate headquarters, no state income tax....this also contributes to Texas' economy and the overall welfare of the state. But shhhhh, don't tell anybody our secret!
Damn, it's nice to be a Texan.
Any areas of Texas where my house won't be egged every night because I'm a democrat?
Maybe in the urban areas....though you may want to watch for stray bullets!
Oh, those aren't a problem. I'm used to those.
