This Year's Dotel

Postby HoldEm » Tue Apr 22, 2003 12:56 pm

Who do you all think is going to be this year's Dotel. My league has holds and it is been difficult to figure out who to go get.
What are the thoughts on Lidge? And some of theother guys out there?

No question in my mind Johan Santana is the American league equivalent to Dotel. If he was allowed to start he might be Minnesota's ace.

I've never played with holds, but my guess would be that Santana wouldn't be that great for holds. I know he's great for the ERA and K help, but he is more of a long-relief/setup man than a set up man per se. He's obviously great in Yahoo leagues because you can slot him in a SP spot and still put in the max allowable closers....

Kyle Farnsworth is looking filthy again this year after a disappointing 2002.

Santana is nice. A underrated guy is Mike Koplove.

Arthur Rhodes is one to think about.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
