Another note on Stuart Scott. If anyone watches Dream Job, you will get this. Ever notice how a lot of the contestants put in catch phrases and names and stuff and Al Jaffe tells them that they aren't looking for that?? They just want guys who do the highlights, he says. Are you kidding me?? It's not about the sports anymore. It's about doing anything but that. I love it when they say that they don't want anyone acting like that but they are acting just like Scott.

Of course, she's a Mets fan.
She's my favorite anchor but not because she's a Mets fan and from L.I. To steal someone else line, "There's only so much "My man got mad bunnies" crap I can take."
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

He practically invented the tradition of giving nicknames to players...
Are you serious???? Actually before Berman, nicknames usually had something to do with a player, not just a stupid word play game.
Before Berman
The Splendid Splinter
The Sultan of Swat
Hammerin Hank
Joltin Joe (The Yankee Clipper)
Big Train
Big Six
The Grey Eagle
The Georgia Peach
The Rocket
Doctor K
Say Hey Kid
Double X
Oil Can
Charlie Hustle
Mr. October
and the list goes on
After Berman
Roberto "Remember The" Alomar
Brady "Bunch" Anderson
Kevin "Small Mouth" Bass
Lance "You sank my" Blankenship
Jose "can you see" Canseco
Ron "Oh My" Darling
Dan "Salad" Driesen
Dwight "Johnny Be" Gooden
Tony Gwynn "and bear it"
Glenn "Mother" Hubbard
John "I am not a" Kruk
Walt "Three blind" Weiss
and the list goes on.
Funny? Sure. But I'm pretty sad to see the old style of nicknames go. They can actually bring up images about a player. Berman's nicknames are nothing more than an exercise in knowing your pop culture references. There aren't many players left with actual nicknames other than the idiotic Bermanisms.
Jim "2 Silhouettes on" DeShaies.
Bert "be home" Blyleven
Joaquin "the dog" Andujar
Von "Purple" Hayes
Chuck "New Kids On" Knoblauch
Jose Lind "on me"
John "Tonight, let it be" Lowenstein
Frank Tanana "daiquiri"
