Wickman

The Indians recently let Bob Wickman walk. I have read they will look at the FA closers but are also keeping an open mind and may try to resign him for less money. Wickman has also said he may retire. What are the chances Wickman resigns ? I also read on another site. The Inside pitch under projected 25 man roster for 2005 they have Jason Davis penciled in as the closer. What are your thoughts about this.

This may be wrong, but if you ask me I think the job will go to Bob Howry. It just seems as though Betancourt, and Riske who I loved for last year but was wrong, blew their chances last year. Davis is as yet unproven, so I think Howry will get a shot, and Wickman is gone.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

I don't believe Wickman is done yet. I believe he will sign somewhere even if it isn't with the tribe. The Indians will be looking for a closer in the offseason and if they don't sign one, I'd put my money on Betancourt winning the closing job in spring training. I'd say the odds of the Indians signing a closer are decent though. Only time will tell.

there was a thread about he indians closer about a week ago...let me see if i can find...oh, actually you've seen that thread already...

anyhow, i think betancourt will close for them next year. but i think perlick made a good point that he might have blown his change this season. he's young though, so they might give him a second chance...
