Base Stats- It would suck to get a stars terrible year. For example Ruth's 1934 stats would be 22 HR's and 84 RBI. Not really Ruthian. But, what if after the draft each owner takes his players and finds the 5 best seasons each had. Then lists them 1-5 Not ranked in order. For example Ruth 5 season might be:
1921
1923
1924
1927
1931
The Owner would list the 5 years. for every player 1-5.
After everyone has done that we would take the magical hat and draw 1# of 1-5. Every owner would use that # for all thier players.

This would involve strategy in listing the players. I would want to alternate the best years that way I get a good team no matter what random # comes up. It would also be fair. Otherwise one team might get "lucky" and get the best year of most his players.

Might be a lot of work but fun studing the players we draft. Anyhow, Just a thought on that.
That's an idea. I proposed a different idea in the other thread.

Have "vetoes." What do I mean? The year chosen for each player is completely random. However, each manager has the opportunity to exercise a veto for that player in that particular year, a certain number of times and have the randomization re-done.

Position Eligibility:
I am ok with anything just want to make sure the rules are listed before the draft.

Players:
I don't like using guys with a few amount of years. I wouldn't want to get beat by a team of Pujols and other young stars. I can get beat in a computer game at home by those guys.

Hope that wasn't too confusing.

The intense control simulation sounds really cool. That'd make us really feel like managers in control of a team of the best that've ever played the game. It'd be fun to at least get to do that for a couple of games a year.

Anyway, #11 ain't bad...not great, though. Thanks, Madison. ;-D

Once I get some of the basic controls in place for the batter-by-batter simulation anyone interested can take a shot at the computer AI. I'll probably just set up some mock teams and let people go nuts with it until the draft is finished. The more bugs we can work out before the real thing starts the better the experience should be for everyone.

I think we need to start formalizing the rules for this simulation game.

25-man roster (DH included)

C-2
1B-2
2B-2
3B-2
SS-2
OF-5
DH-1

SP-5
RP-4

Tavish, will this work for your simulation?

How is the scoring going to work? I was under the impression that the simulation worked like a real baseball game was being played. But with the roster setup you suggested it looks more like a fantasy team setup.
