Whither Giambi?

What are the chances he's a nice value pick at 1B next year? Or is he too far gone that we'll probably have to settle for half of what he used to be?

He's a big question mark in my mind...I'm honestly not sure what to think about him next year. I don't think I'll take a gamble on him, unless it's in the late rounds, but I doubt he'll last that long with all of the Yankee homers.

He has to drop really far for me to take a flier on him, and somehow I see him still being overvalued next year getting drafted to early by a biased fan.

He was auctioned for well over $30 in our 12 team league the last two years. (We have a $260 salary cap with 23 players) I doubt he will bring much more than $20 next spring. A strong Spring training could make a major difference in his value. If he looks healthy and hits well, I think people will look favorably at him again.

I already have Morneau so don't know that I'll be in the market for Giambi.

i have basically been burned by him the last 2 years.....so i will definitely be passing on him til the later rounds(which he will be long gone by then anyways)........

I'm in the same boat as you, grammy. $260 cap, and Giambi went for $27. I waited till all the 1B's were gone and signed Morneau at $1, for seven years

Anyone feel like there is a possibility that Giambi gets traded this winter? This is just speculation on my part but I have the feeling that the Yankees are through with Giambi (or at least want to be) and Giambi wants out of NY. This would overcome his no-trade clause.

monitor his health. even in the past couple years, he has produced when healthy. that doesnt mean that i'm optimistic about his chances for next year.

I don't think people are going to "jump" to get him, but I do believe he will go earlier than I would feel comfortable taking the gamble. Spring training could make a world of difference as to boosting his value. I don't think it can get much lower, so a poor spring wouldn't be a big deal. A good spring, could boost his draft spot by a few rounds. We'll see though.
