I know this interview is most likely just a formality but I hope they are not seriously considering him. You can draw comparisons between the Blue Jays and Mets season and he ended up with the same results as Howe: a lackluster, underachieving peformance.

Maybe if I say it enough times it will happen. Bring Bobby V. back. ;-)

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I can't say that I agree with the Bobby V. sentiment because I don't think he was a good leader, regardless of his management skills. I'd prefer a Pinella or etc.

Also, what happened to your link to yr blog that used to be in your signature? When I'd see your posts, I'd check it out. But not lately. What's on your addled mind lately?

I linked it to the WWW button, the one next to AIM, PM, etc.

I let it slide for awhile due to heavy work load and overwhelming disgust at the 2nd half play. But we get a fresh start now so I'll probably get re-inspired. :-b

Piniella would be my choice too but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. But I liked Bobby V. and felt like he was the fallguy for a bad situation. Considering some of the names that have been popping up: Tosca, Baylor, Kirk Gibson, Jaramillo, Fregosi :-P I'd be be grinning from ear to ear if we got Bobby back.

They may not want to pay Valentine considering he's getting paid $2.2M/year and he might not want to leave. I've read he gets treated like a baseball god over there. So if Bobby doesn't pan these are the names that intrigue me: Wally Backman, Gary Carter, Willie Randolph and Bob Brenly. ;-D

Not a Mets fan but out of those options I think Gary Carter would be worth a chance. Randolph would be good to. I'm was never very impressed with Brenly.
