I hate players and managers who do that just to pad their stats.

Speaking of managers who pad stats at the end of the year, here's what Bobby Cox had to say about Chipper:
Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote:Cox plans to give Chipper Jones every chance to reach 100 RBIs for the ninth consecutive season and tie Sammy Sosa's National League record.
"I don't think he needs any rest," said Cox, noting all the time Jones missed early this season because of a partially torn hamstring. "Records are important. I'd like to see him do it. Why not give him a shot."
Looks like that worked out great..... "why not give him a shot" well I think we know why now

"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."

and Caveman hit 7th.
but Tek hitting leadoff isnt that bad cos his ops is pretty close to .400. hes my choice for the no. 2 hitter now since Nixon's back.
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

Tek lead off so he could get his at-bats quickly and then Francona could replace him, not because they were trying to pad his stats
