AL ROY: remember Lew Ford ???

Postby thetongueofire » Fri Oct 01, 2004 4:21 pm

then why is Bobby Crosby everyone's "unanimous" choice for AL ROY. it makes no sense.

the world is just becoming overbearingly dumb. first of all RJ's not "good enough" cos his team sucks, then Barry Bonds isnt good cos he walks 300 times a year, Peter Gammons thinks Mariano Rivera should be the AL MVP, and then.. this. :-°

If I remember right Ford isn't eligible for the ROY.

he only got 73 AB's last year and that doesnt disqualify him from being a rookie this year. only other thing could be if he spent more than 45 days on the Twins roster last year but i dont know how to check that. :-)

i dont remember the exact amount of days he was on the roster last year but i did read he was not eligible for the ROY this year because he was on the roster too long last year.

He's better than Crosby in almost everything... just not HR's. I guess one glamour stat can outweigh a bunch of other stats.

I guess the question is, is he eligible :-?

Lew Ford lost his rookie status last season, he was on the active roster for the better part of the season last year until he fractured his forearm, so he far surpassed the 45 day limit.
