Matt Morris

Postby kimchi_chigae » Sat Sep 25, 2004 6:30 pm

from rotoworld:

Matt Morris will be skipped Saturday to prepare for the postseason.
The Cardinals will go with a bullpen start, not revealing yet which reliever will open the game.

does anyone know if this means that he won't pitch again until the postseason?

According to that article, that is exactly what they are saying, he won't pitch again till the postseason.

i am not reading that out of it....i thought they were skipping morris so they could line him up to pitch game 1 of playoffs....they were just skipping him this one time to give him some rest and get him ready.........

this is from fanball......

LaRussa wanted Morris to get rest prior to the playoffs, the Associated Press reported.
Views: We expect Morris to make his next turn in the rotation, which will be his last prior to the playoffs.

I think Morris will definitely make his next start. You don't want your pitchers going into the postseason having not pitched in a week and a half or so if at all possible. I'm sure in Morris's next start that he probably will be on some kind of limit. Pitch enough to stay sharp, but let some other guys eat up some innings too. That's the advantage of clinching your playoff spot.
