So I'm not sure if I call it churning, but it ain't bright..

Thoughts? This strategy has me scratching my head...

I'm down 6-3 in my head to head match, but we're real close in runs (back three), homeruns (up one), RBIs (down one), and steals (tied).

The guy I'm going against has been getting the occasional spot starter, and so have I. Fine...

But after Beckett and Maddux's starts tonight, he dropped them and picked up Kris Benson and Brett Myers.

Now, perhaps he doesn't know that the final championship is two weeks, or maybe he thinks he can get them back for their next start. He didn't dump Peavy or Sheets.

Here's the thing: I'm really confused about what he's doing, and I've seen everything. He's currently winning ERA and WHIP, but he can blow that quick (especially with ERA as the tie-breaker). He's up two wins on me, but that's not because of churning, but Maddux, Peavy, etc...

He's up in Ks, but not by much. I have saves. So, it doesn't make sense. Maybe he's throwing ERA and WHIP and going for Ks and wins.

Dropping your players in the finals few days happens in this league--get that extra win or something, but this is odd seeing as we have one week left.

What should I do? I don't really have much to drop, but I'll try to get Maddux and Beckett. Should I wait? Should I drop my lesser starters that still have one start left--the Colons and El Duques?

SO, what am I missing, what should I do?

Upgrade your staff if Beckett/Maddux are better than current players. Try not to taunt too much, he might think its a one week matchup and drop more upgrades. Honestly I can't think of any strategy the guy could be using other than desperation to get a lead in K's/Wins.

Get Maddux. Not sure about Beckett, but if he's an upgrade, I'd do that as well. Maddux's next start should be against Cincy, and it's possible that he will face Atlanta on the final day of the season.

This is what I don't get. He's leading in Ks and Wins... it's crazy.

The only thing that makes sense is that he thinks it ends Sunday. But if that were the case, he would have dropped Sheets and Peavy, too.

Today the 23rd, he pitched so 5 games from now it's the 28th against Cincy at home and 5 games from that is the final game of the Cub's season Oct. 3rd against ATL at home.

Makes sense that he could go twice. Not sure if he will, but he could.

Is it a Yahoo league? if it is the guy is just retarded!! ESPN leagues however is a different story, they are 2 weeks as well, but broken up into weeks, with the stats starting over at the beginning of week 2. My playoff round that ended last week I won because I went
9-1 the first week and then cruised the second week because I knew I only had to win 2 cats. to take the overall win and could dump 8 cats in order to win!!!

Yeah, he probably will. Unlike some teams that have clinched (Minn/Santana come to mind) the Cubs won't be jiggering their rotation to set it up for the playoffs. That wild-card race looks down to the wire, so they'll keep people in order.

Beckett, I'm not sure about his value ... maybe that's what the other guy is thinking. Does he have waiver priority over you? Perhaps he believes he can snare Maddux back and let you have Beckett, who has hardly been studly his last couple outings.

Otherwise, I'm as mystified as everyone else here.

Anyway, I have waiver priority, but even if I didn't, he couldn't get him; you can't claim a guy you dropped--he has to clear first.

I'm just worried about people fighting it out for the consolation trying to snag them.
