Crazy idea methinks. It's hard to say where the threshold is regarding RP's getting the CY, but unless there isn't a clear winner and there is a guy setting RP records left right and center, I think it should go to a SP.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
I think Joe Nathan deserves the Cy Young more than Rivera.
Santana has it anyways so i'd say its more on the crazy side.
and like others have said, i'm agaisnt giving RP Cy Young unless its like Gagne's last year and his main competitior is some dude like Russ Ortiz.
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
I agree that RPs should not get the Cy Young award, except for very unusual situations as was with Gagne last year. BUT even if they would be condeserving, the first place winner this year is SANTANA The second plkace finisher should be SANTANA and the third place finisher should be SANTANA (well, maybe Schilling in third)
rivera is going to probably be somewhere from 3rd to 5th in cy young voting.....santanas year is just too awesome stats wise to give it to a reliever....and schillings year has been better as well......and i agree that a RP should only get the award if no SP stands out.......
Gagne (RP) won last year because there really were no top starters to take it along with Gagne's remarkable season. The AL has two top performers this year, so I've got Rivera down the list. Santana at #1 and Schilling at #2. After that, it really doesn't matter.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Huh? What happened to that guy named Jason Schmidt?!?! I heard he had a pretty good year and got ROBBED!!!!!!!
Yes, I'm still very, very bitter over the fact that Jason got skipped for the CY Young last year. Can you tell??
