Cardinals' Rotation

Postby Amazinz » Thu Sep 23, 2004 12:17 pm

Who do the Cardinals plan to use on Saturday and Sunday?

Also, most of the probables lists I look at are fairly "fubar'd" right now. MLB has Friday and Saturday listed. Anyone know of a fairly accurate list for Sunday?

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I'd say Haren gets one of them; Ankiel the other.

I don't look at projected starters, but those would be my guesses.

I thought they said Ankiel wasn't starting.

Post-Dispatch says that Haren is starting tonight. That means he won't be starting this weekend for sure.

ESPN has Haren going tonight and then Suppan, Morris, and Marquis.

Hope that helps.

Morris is not starting this weekend. (He's being skipped)

My guess would be Ankiel gets that start (probably going no more than 5). The only other option really is Kiko Calero. I hope for the latter.

I think it's a terrible idea to start him in Colorado, but Steve Kline (whose spot Ankiel took) is due back on Saturday.

speaking of Cardinals rotation, mewonders how it'll shape up in the postseason...
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

Well Ankiel won't be starting, from their site....

All relief: One pitcher who will not get a start over the season's final two weeks is Rick Ankiel. The lefty will vie for a spot in the rotation next spring, but for now he's simply not stretched out enough to start any games. Ankiel has yet to throw more than two innings since he was activated from the disabled list at the beginning of September.
