This league was a scam!! Looking to get even but need help

Postby St. Paul Royals » Wed Sep 22, 2004 10:04 pm

Hi,
This isn't a advertisement but since I found out about this league here I thought I would ask here.

Was anyone else in this league:
Fantasy baseball keeper league
http://www.Fantasysportssite.com

This fantasy baseball site had three leagues of 16 teams. They charged 20 bucks each. They came away with 980 dollars. They promised world series tickets to the 3 league champion.

It was a very good site for awhile. Live draft, Live scoring. very competitive. Then the commish disappeared. He came back a couple weeks later and said he had family issues. Then we never saw him again. The site still was running till about a week ago. when it too quit right during the championship week.

He promised tickets from this site. http://www.bestbreaktickets.com
At the time they had tickets for everything. Now the site is still there. but they don't have any tickets for sale. The phone # has also been disconnected.

Does any one have any insight on this?

I think the Commish's name was Buddy Dixon.

They advertised on this site. They even cut and paste fantasy baseball cafe to thier home page.

I know it is only 20 dollars to me but, these type of leagues destroy the fun of the sport we love.

I hope this e-mail stirs up some information and some other owners.

Thanks you for your time.

First off I would file a complaint with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center at http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp.

Getting information on the guy isn't hard, so allow me to do some digging.

He registered the domain "fantasysportssite.com" with fake information -

I thought I saw him running to the bank a couple months ago....

Kidding aside, the whole thing sounded flaky to begin with $980 for (a pair of?) Series tickets to 3 division winners?? You aren't making much money off that to begin with -- let alone running the stats/service/website.

I do remember the posts at the beginning of the year. Sorry you got suckered in by this clown.

Might not help at all, but may be there's some info left located here (I'm guessing you can no longer get in this site):

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:M7 ... -8&strip=0

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:9d ... m%22&hl=en

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:xU ... m%22&hl=en

Also, if you use the Search function in this forum, you can view all his previous posts. Type in: Fantasysportssite.com in the key term search and Classifieds area.

I make no guarantees this is in fact it, but I searched the site for old cached contact #'s and this looks the most legit (maybe it's a relative, but maybe in fact is the clown behind it):

Dixon, Maria
174 N 1st St
Zavalla, TX 75980
(936) 897-1077

The fact none of the links work and a bunch of contact info (along with multiple email address) is erased, leads me to believe something fishy went on. It's only $20, but I think you can track this clown down and teach him a lesson if nothing else.

Basically just went to Google and typed in that fantasysportssite.com website and look for past pages.

I'm guessing he collected money at this address and eventually erased it to cover his tracks. And you know that none of the links now work. It's hard to tell his intent if you fact had a functioning league for the majority of this season, but I'm just going off what you have stated & the little I've seen for myself.

good job

Postby St. Paul Royals » Thu Sep 23, 2004 7:25 am

Wow guys thats a lot of information. Good job. Everybody payed by paypal. So, he doens't have a credit card #. After the site went down all my information came from old e-mails and old posts on this site. Looks like I got some work to do.

I have a feeling he is reading this right now. just under a new user name because he was pretty active before.

Is there anybody else out there that was in the league? This site was his main advertisement. Maybe someone else has more information.

The administrators must have kept a record of his advertisements (for tax purposes and such) so it would seem logical that they had to have had some contact info, or at least a paypal account number which would have contact info.

I think some of the names posted are fake. The 111 my drive address for instance. As a previous poster already said, $980 is not worth a scam considering he spent $$ on the site and stat service. Of course it all depends on how much those services cost.

Does anyone know how much a website of that caliber costs to run for all this time?

How much does a stat service cost?

Depending on the cost of those 2 items, it would've been better promising $$ winnings to 1st-3rd place. He wouldve made a decent profit and everyone wouldve been happy.

$100 to all league champions (3 leagues = $300)
$50 to all 2nd place ($150)
$20 to 3rd place (counts as ur $$ back, $60)
Total: $510 If it costs $70 or less for the services, then he has $400 left for himself for the work he put in. It would probably be less than getting world series tickets because those can be expensive and problematic to get if its not your home team.
I love mock drafts.
