Last Day of the Yahoo Week

Postby tmyanks24 » Sun Sep 19, 2004 11:30 am

I lead all 5 offensive categories by almost insurmountable margins. He has wins nailed down, we're tied for saves, he leads by 6 in Ks. I have a 3.06 ERA, his is 3.80 and he leads WHIP by 0.11. If things ended today, I'd win 6-3.

Today, I have Pedro Martinez (vs. NYY), Brian Lawrence (vs. SF) and Dave Williams (vs. NYM). He has Ismael Valdez (vs. ATL), who he's starting. I could cepture Ks if I start any two of my pitchers (or maybe even just Pedro), but I'm worried about benching them all in case he somehow takes one of my offensive categories and catches up. It is a Yahoo league, so ERA is the tiebreaker.

Any advice?

Playoffs? H2H?

Any clue how many innings his pitchers have logged?

I'm in a similar situation today.

I have all five pitching stats, he has three of the hitting, with SB and HR tied. I'm benching my ENTIRE staff today (including closers), because I did the math and figured that Freddy Garcia would have to throw a 4-hit CGSO for him to pass me in WHIP or ERA.

Basically, my theory is this: if your era is under 3.5 and you are winning that stat, bench everyone once the other pitching stats are locked. It's hard to get lower than 3.06 ;-D

heh. i'm in SUCH a tight race right now.

RBI are seperated by 1, but i've got average and SB locked up well enough, while he's got HR. i've got like a 7 run lead on him, as well.

pitching, OTOH, is scary. i've lost ERA, WHIP, and saves which means i have to win both Ks and Ws. I'm up by 1 W and 12 Ks, and have kazmire and benson (gogo spot start :-o ) today while he has russ ortiz, santana, and clemens ( !+) ). so basically, i gotta pray kaz holds the lead and strikes out some more guys and that he doesn't get three wins today.

oh, and i need to get many RBI, as well! :-D
