They say that a ss is top of their FA list for the offseason.

You sure about that? I read that Russ Adams was getting first shot to be the Jay's starting SS. That's why I was coming to this board to ask but someone had beat me to it.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

At the begining of September Riccardi said that a ss was his #1 priority on the FA market because Gomez and Woodward were not cutting it.

Then....after Russ Adams plays a full 22 ML games he comes out with this on Sept 29:

On Sept. 29, Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi declared Adams as the team's starting shortstop for next season.

Geez.

Riccardi is becoming flakier by the day.

Doh. Didn't realize you had posted that a month ago.

Well this kid looks pretty good. From what I have read about him he needs a little work defensively but has the skills and he's major league ready with the bat. Does that seem about right?

His MLEs/Pecota stats and projections for next year seem like a guy who might be worth keeping an eye on. Looks like SS might be painfully thin next year.

well, woodward got waived last week, so it looks like they will go with adams next year. the jays still have gomez who was actually pretty decent for them throughout the year. i hope they give adams a chance to start the season as the SS.
