This organization hasn't had it together in 4 years now. I hear Steve Phillips doing broadcasts for ESPN now, and he tries to defend some of the things he believes in on the air. Not a good commentator to my suprise because I thought after they leave the Mets they become ten times more valuble. :-D

Seriously though, the team is not that far off, just rid the world of the Wilpons, get out of the ghetto in Flushing Meadows, and stop selling off the farm system for B or C major league level talent, and it is possible to round the team into shape. But for now, this round is on me Mets fans. Here's to another manager and then GM being alienated by the evil Wilpon's. CHEERS

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

The Mets are just a lost cause. I honestly think most of us fantasy players have better idea who has major league talent than they do. The main problem, as I see it, is that they refuse to admit defeat and look for a new path. Every year, they hire older guys thinking they can "make a run". Give up the ego, build a farm system, evaulate how you're ending up with such crappy talent each year, and admit you won't be great right from the start.

I really feel bad for Art in this situation. I am very close friends with his family and I feel that the Mets upper management needs to do some self exploring before they go and make decisions that can have such an effect on everyone else's lives including the fans.

It happens all the time........... I'm sure Artie isn't hurtin for cash anyway. Kinda sad since you know him, but if you knew the guy taking his position as manager you woudn't be feeling so bad. It all evens out ;-)

His plan right now is to take some time off and spend it with the family.

I know this wouldnt happen but I would love to see Art in a city like Pittsburgh. He would be a much better fit for pittsburgh than big Lloyd McLendon

Maybe Philly can get rid of Bowa and he can manage there. That isn't too far away from Pittsburgh, so you could still make it out to some games.
