Worst trade offered to you so far this season?

Postby ramble2 » Sun Apr 20, 2003 4:23 pm

A few days ago I was offered Brad Fullmer for Guerrero! And don't even get me started on the offers I got for Prior before the season even began. :-o It got so bad, that I eventually had to post something on the league page telling people that I wasn't an idiot...

It's a Yahoo public league - but it is a winner's league so I expected a little better. I thought about posting the offer in the league bulletin board for everyone to see (shame is a strong motivator), but decided to simply decline the trade and ask whether he was joking.

Just curious, what other horrible offers have people gotten so far?

I offered someone Jeremy Giambi and Aramis Rameriz for Irod and Schilling in hopes that they would be drunk and think it was Jason Giambi and Manny. It was a good try right?

Where should i start?? 3 days ago i was offered B.Giles,RJ,Isringhausen for Zito,Pedro,Bernie,Pudge. Just today i was offered D.Wells, for Zito. And the day AFTER Griffey got injured i got offered Griffey,Glaus,Lilly for Vlad,Zito. But that was partly because the guy had just got Griffey from me about 3 days before the season started and was a lil pissed. Hehe

I cant say i havent offered some of my own tho. But i was tryin to wake people up.. get their creative juices flowing.

Yeah, I always like to test the other owners to see if I can lull them into terrible deals that work to my advantage. For example, I have one owner in my league that is a huge Yankees fan, and I had Pettite, who I really wanted to offload for a comparable pitcher with less durability concerns. I was able to get Kerry Wood off him for Petitte. The same guy then was getting upset with Benitez for well being Benitez and blowing the majority of his saves. So, I got Chavez and Benitez for Smoltz and Blalock, who I had just grabbed off waivers the previous day.

I always try to propose deals right after players get off to lousy starts, like RJ has to see if the other owner is stupid enough to give me RJ for Odalis Perez. Trying to make deals that you win out on overall is part of the fun of the game and can play a huge part in strenghening your team.
