Looks like someone was mad they didn't make the playoffs

Postby jebatzel » Tue Sep 07, 2004 4:03 pm

Today the day after all the playoffs team (6 out of 10) were made know.

A player in my league picked up 4 new players.

He is in 8th, so didn't make the playoffs

He picked up Jeff Bagwell who I was about to grab.

In my money league, non-playoff teams are locked down by the commish. This is a way to avoid this kind of action.

Even those who are still playing in a consolation bracket? :-? Doesn't seem right if they still have a reason to play. Even if it's just not wanting to finish last.

He has the right to try and win the consolation playoffs, doesn't he? I would do the same as him. When I play in a league, I play to win whether I'm in first or not. If he was in my league, I would be very pleased with his actions. Quitters suck.

Consolation brackets don't exist in my money league. Once the playoffs start and your team doesn't make it, you are then just a spectator. We do have a 3rd place game where money is involved. Though I don't like it, the commish insists that the 2 teams playing in that game be locked out of the WW (you can still bench/start guys). He doesn't want anything to interfere with the championship game. I think that since money is involved there should be WW access. Hey, I'm not commish anymore.

I do the same thing as FE in my H2H hockey league. We have certain payouts depending on the standings and, once you are eliminated, your team is locked from making add/drops. I don't see how someone playing for nothing or next to nothing should be able to pick up players that someone playing for $1K can use. :-?
