This happen to anyone else?

Lately when I'm playing MVP 2004 it locks up for a couple of minutes and I have to restart. It usually happens right after the computer hits a homerun or in the middle of the 7th when there is that longer break. It does whether I've just saved it or not, or haven't saved for several games. Is there something wrong with the saved file? Corrupted? I haven't tried to see if it does it in exhibition or other modes since it appears to be completely random. Any thoughts? BTW I'm playing on PS2.
