The guy had 23 HR and 100 RBI last year, but this year has been injured for most of the season and has struggled when he has played. However, in the last 5 games, including today, he has a .428 AVG with 2 HR and 7 RBI. Is he worth a shot for the rest of the way?
If you've got a last roster spot that isn't getting you much (often the case) Gibbons is worth a gamble. Just spot him vs. righties and hope that he can keep it going now that he's finally reasonably healthy. Gibbons is not a superstar by any stretch, but is a lot better than he's shown this season.
the rumors are that his eyes have been problematic. up till this season, he has had 20-15 vision. this yuear he noticed a difference, got some contacts, and that worked. but he said he hated wearing them and putting in drops between innings. so recently, he decided to stop using them, and he is playing with his worse vision~

I am not a big Gibbons fan, but how can you say his best fantasy days are behind him based on a slump the first two months of this season? He will never be Vlad, but until this year he was developing nicely and there is no reason to think that he could not evolve into a consistent .280/25 guy, which would bring some nice RBI numbers in the 6 hole in that line-up. Don't forget that exhalted Teixera's numbers would look fairly crappy if he had gone down with an injury after 200 ABs as well.
