Damn proxy at work is now keeping me off Yahoo IM because it doesnt have the "automatic proxy configuration" option (to go along with the HTTP and SOCKS option) like Netscape and AOL IM have. Anyone have any help for me?

It is basically an open source program which combines AOL IM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, Jabber and ICQ accounts into one "buddy list". It looks/feels a lot like AIM, but you can communicate with users of any account. I really don't quite understand why more people don't use it. The best part about it is, no spyware or advertisements of any sort (plus, it's totally free).
FYI, it originated for Linux, but don't worry...it's Windows compatible. Don't fear the penguins.

I use Trillian. Same basic principal. Combines AOL, MSN, YIM, etc., with no popups or ads. One control panel that controls everything.

Any chance they sell the program on disk? The new proxy settings Im dealing with almost completely stop any new downloads. Im going to check it out and see if I can download it and copy it to a disk. Any other suggestions would be great. But thanks alot Slomo and Mad, Ill check those out.

i'm not sure u will be able to use trillian, well, maybe you will be ok with yahoo IM in trillian, but i had some problems using the msn in trillian and proxies at the same time. u can try though
yea you can try trillian, but just a sidenote...i installed trillian and it seems too confusing to me especially if you have 4-5 separate buddy list groups for aim, yim, and msn
