Let him get in a few no-pressure innings in September, sure, but if he's in a playoff game and things go wrong, everything they worked so hard for could be gone. It'd be incredibly irresponsible and foolish of the Cards.

my thoughts exactly...they need ankiel more for next year then they do this post season....if he can pitch 10 to 15 innings this september, maybe it can set him up to be a decent to good starting pitcher next year....i think the cardinals would be asking way too much to put him in any pressure situations this year....let him get ready for next year......

No, no! Don't get me wrong. I think they should continue with the slow-and-cautious road they are taking, but still...

How freaking cool would it be for him to shake the monkey off his back in the playoffs where it got on him in the first place? You have to admit, it would be pretty studly.

I wonder what something like that would do to eftda's nips?

You and the sexual statements today, I tell ya....

I'll tell ya something else. If your nipples get hard talking about baseball you need to get laid something awful. :-D

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Again, quotations and capitalizations?

Have you been paying attention in school again, Rico? I thought we warned you about that.

Ankiel

Postby Redbird ChaCha » Thu Sep 02, 2004 10:35 am

This is the new and improved Rick Ankiel. Watch him, gone is the big leg kick, he is much more compact in his delivery. His arm slot is a little lower.Ankiel looks like a pitcher now not a thrower. Saturday his aaa game was against Texas aaa in Oklahoma City, a pretty good team. He is not only throwing strikes but hitting his spots. He never threw a ball till the 6th batter, and never had more than 2 balls in any inning. 53 pitches,44 strikes. Fastball sits around 90 now, will prob add a couple mph as he gets stronger.Same curveball, new change up. Hitters gave up trying to hit him and started bunting. Rick left a boy and a thrower and is back a man and a pitcher.
