Wondering if he will start? Is Sosa that bad or will he be the #1 pitch hitter? I still dont think its worth picking him up. ;-)

Apparently they need another lefty off the bench without Hollandsworth. :-? 8-o Another bat?.... lol that's like we need to get mesa to backup rivera, quantrill, and gordon... unnecessary

:-?

I don't understand why the Cubbies wanted him, Grimzeke is right there is no need for an extra bat.

We don't have any lefties off the bench, that's all he be used for and the occasional spot start giving sosa or alou the day off. This could be bad news though as they must not think Hollandsworth will return :-o

It really doesn't sound like Hollandsworth will come back this season. Grieve will be a decent lefty off the bench and may get the occasional start in LF to give Alou a rest.

It's safe to say that Sosa won't be benched for Ben Grieve. Sheesh!

An insignificant waiver deal. Grieve hasn't had any value for years, and he still doesn't.

Rays were trying to deal Cruz before the deadline and one team they were talking to was the Cubs. Seems like they decided to take another cheaper ex-Ray.

Or any lefties that deserve to be on the bench (cough Todd Walker cough)....

There is no way in hell Todd Walker should be sitting in favor of Grudz vs. RHP.

I was wondering if Walker might end up somehow being the player to be named later or something but I couldn't quite see that Milwaukee had a need for him.

Goodwin has also figured in so I am also mystified as to what exactly the goal of getting Grieve would be. Perhaps its just the first of several deals, shifting guys around?
