Waiver trades??

Postby bjm97 » Tue Aug 31, 2004 4:29 pm

I was under the impression that trades had to be completed by 2PM today in order for a player to qualify for the post season roster. There was talks about the Giants acquiring Estes and Burnitz from Colorado and the A's going after Jeff Kent. No where on rotoworld, ESPN.com or FBC could I find any deals. Did anything happen or I am confused on the deadline?

I was wondering the same thing. I expected at least one or two small trades at least - but nothing? odd... :-?

I think it is 12pm tonight. That's what it says on MLB.com. Not sure about the timezone. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/sched ... tes_04.jsp

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Pat Borders from Seattle to the Twins.

Mike Difelice from Detroit to the Cubs.

Two blockbusters so far.

MLB.COM wrote:Waivers:
A waiver is a permission granted to a Club that desires to assign or release one of its players. There are basically two types of waivers -- waivers for the assignment of a player and waivers for the unconditional release of a player. In both cases, waivers are granted only after all the other Major League Clubs have been given an opportunity to claim the player and none has done so. With regard to assignment waivers, permission is granted for a specific period of time. With unconditional release waivers, once permission is granted the player is a free agent.

yeah, i know that doesn't help... i didn't read it until I posted it
