Been out of the loop for a while

Postby Hexxo » Mon Aug 30, 2004 7:50 pm

I have played fantasy baseball for a few years, but for the past several months I have not really been able to pay attention to what's going on in the fantasy baseball world. I have been able to set my lineups and make some WW moves (and 2 trades), but I am going to need help because my team is in 1st place. I was wondering if there are any players on my team that *won't* help me in the playoffs. In otherwords, are there any problems with my team that can be fixed:

C: Victor Martinez
1B: Todd Helton
2B: Marcus Giles
3B: Hank Blalock
SS: Orlando Cabrera
OF: Vlad Guerrero
OF: Carlos Lee
OF: Jason Bay
UTIL: Aubrey Huff

Tim Hudson
Barry Zito
Rich Harden
Johan Santana
Greg Maddux
Tim Wakefield
Jose Contreras
Brandon Webb
Roy Halladay (DL)

Mariano Rivera
Francisco Cordero
Danny Kolb
Jose Valverde (bench b/c he's on the DL)

I would appreciate any suggestions you guys have - I am delighted that my team is doing fine without me reading tidbits about players every day and hope to still be able to win. Thanks!

I would try and review others, but I have really been in the dark for a while and would be poor at roster-rating right now.

Paul Byrd?

Those look like the best options I think, and Drese was just dropped too. Any of these guys better than Wakefield/Webb?

actually now that i think about it, and look at the numbers, keep webb... i would drop wakefield and pick up byrd... the braves have been hot..... escobar might be good for spot starts... somtimes he'll just all of a sudden pitch 8 shutout innings

i'd take Escobar over BOTH Webb and Wakefield. id' also look to add some speed if you can do that without messing up the whole team too much. otherwise, its fine. ;-D
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

Looks good to me. ;-D

Any notable fielders on the free agent wire? (you never know). Somebody playing hot (like Rowand) might be better than Bay (although Bay has been playing well also).

I'd take Byrd over Wakefield. There's talk of moving Byrd to the bullpen, so you'd need to watch out for that.
