I disagree, I know the skill level isn't up with the greatest players of all time like MJ, Bird, and Magic but this roster is filled with All-Stars, MVPS, Rookie of the Years, scoring champs, National Player of the Years....These guys aren't slouches. I think it's more of the selection of the team than the actual talent. The talent is there, it's just not as suited for this type of game.
Also, the NBA has seen a change in it's flow and style of play. Most of the top scorers these days are slashers who penetrate to the basket and draw tons of fouls. The international game has less foul calling and you always see the Team USA players complaining about this. They need to just adapt before they get sent home.
I hope this year's performance sends a message to the selection committee telling them they just can't assemble this type of roster and expect to win on raw talent. Anybody know when the next World Championships are? I'm guessing 2 years?? We'll see if they learned their lesson or not.
