i'm in first by 20 games and suddenly people start punting saves to load up on different categories and spot starting. one guy has loaded up on starters and middle relievers and trading gagne/sosa for jd drew/livan hernandez. on offense, he has pretty much obtained most of the SB threats.
another team has a stranglehold on Wins, K, SB, Holds (4 of 12 categories) with losses not counted, no one in league can do much against him.
here's his roster:
1B A. Dunn
2B B. Roberts
3B A. Béltre
SS M. Tejada
OF C. Patterson, M. Cameron, JD Drew
Util M. Lawton, E. Byrnes, W. Pena
BN M. Alou
SP M. Mulder, J. Weaver , N. Lowry, J. Beckett, Oliver Perez, Schilling, Livan Hernandez
MP A. Otsuka, BJ Ryan, J. Tavárez, G. Carrara
RP None
My team:
1B D. Ortiz
2B M. Giles
3B C. Jones
SS R. Furcal
OF V. Guerrero
OF C. Crawford
OF V. Wells
Util C. Lee, J. Morneau, D. Lee
BN A. Ramírez, MCab
SP J. Santana, F. Garcia, Odalis Perez, Zito, Zambrano, B. Penny
RP F. Cordero, B. Lidge, T. Percival
MP F. Rodríguez, D. Marte
DL B. WagnerDL
my team is better balanced, but with 4 of 12 categories locked up, all he needs is 1 or 2 players that get hot on offense and he will win at least 8 of 12 points every single week. this is a tad cheap, what do you guys thinK?

I'm fairly knew to Fantasy baseball, and I have never played in a H2H league yet, but it doesn't sound cheap to me, it just sounds like a good strategy.
It's a good strategy, though it sounds a bit harder to pull off than you're giving him credit for. Your team's got better quality at many positions, though, so it may be tough for him to beat you in cats like ERA, WHIP, etc. That's why I like playing roto more than H2H...I hate cats like Ws and Ks without limits. Load up on all of them.

first off, can it really be 5x5 if there are 12 categories?
secondly, there is nothing wrong with this strategy. if these guys choose to give up on SV and whatnot, those are categories that you should win. it's all about trying to win the ones that are up for grabs.

sour grapes.

Best bet is to join a keeper league that has those safeguards. If this is a keeper league, then suggest it for next year.
