Mench the Man

I recently picked up Mench for some short term gains and boy am I gaining. In teh last two games he's 5 for 8 with a HR, 4R and 3RBI's. And now he's hitting 5th in Texas' stacked line up for the slumping Blalock. After this home stand against the Indians he off to Kaufman Stadium (KC) to face a bunch of lefties which he's hitting like a mad man.

Short story....if you have room and he's on WW, pick up Kevin Mench!

Bighead can play there's no question. It's just that Buck seems to think it would be best to platoon 5 or 6 guys in the outfield so Mench may only see 4-5 starts a week which makes him a bit unpredictable.

I'd pick him up but be prepared to have someone else at the ready that you can plug in.

Only play him vs. lefties...notice his past 2 games were both against lefties, so don't read TOO much into them.

Agreed, I plugged him in against the Indians lefties the last two games, but he is back to the bench tonight. Although in fairness to Mench, there is not as much disparity in his career splits as there is in his season splits.

i think mench could put up some decent numbers if he ever became a full time starter for a whole year......
