safe leads in saves?

Postby great gretzky » Tue Aug 17, 2004 6:25 pm

lofunzo brought up an interesting thought down below, and am curious as to how it pertains to me:

I need era and whip help, plus am over on innings, can I bench c. cordero?

I can't catch the person in front of me in saves, and am twelve ahead of the next person (has benitez and worrell) , 15 on a team with dotel/wagner, and 16 ahead on a team with nathan, graves, frasor.

I have f. cordero, c. cordero and wickman.

should c. cordero get the bench for a while? can I really be caught? I am worried about the nathan team, but I figure my lead fo 16 is like having a closer. thoughts? can I do this? cordero has been getting blown up lately and is undermining every step forward. yet keeping my place in saves is critical too.

I wouldn't mind benching Chad C. If he continues to hurt the categories you preciously need, and benching him would help stay under your innings pitched, why not bench him?

Unless you are dangerously close to losing your lead keep Cordero riding the pine.

Chad Cordero isn't quite as bad as he's been lately. In fact, his ERA numbers are usually quite good. He runs into WHIP problems due to high walk amounts.

If you really need ERA and WHIP help, consider benching Cordero. To be safe, you may want to continue starting all three. I mean, the two teams below you with two closers a piece both have good duos (though Wagner is shelved now), but it may be tough for him to catch you. I doubt the other team can get to you, though he'll make a run with three closers.
