Mark Mulder 8-o

A 3.71 ERA with ordinary IP /K ratio is not a Top 10 fantasy guy.

Tejada 76 runs 23 HR's 107 RBI's 4 steals Avg. 317 OBP .366

A-Rod 81 runs 29 Hr's 71 RBi's 20 steals Avg. 279 OBP .366

They are very close, definitely A-Rod if you are using OBP, maybe Tejada by a nose using Avg.

beltran is still a four category performer and an elite on at that. he may not have avg, but bonds and manny don't have steals. so you have to go and draft someone else to compensate, thus may be a drag in some other cat, like beltran is in average. i don't get that arguemnt.

NZ fan, I think you're nuts if you have ARod on your list-of course, he is SS elegible this year.

here's a trick question. who are these 3B?
441 81 29 71 20 .2789 0.3665 0.5147
432 77 24 81 4 .3102 0.3804 0.5370

But I'm glad you brought Arod out to be picked on, and I am hoping others join in the discussion. To me, he is a top 5 3B, no more, no less.

Maybe a 1st rounder next year, but probably not mine :)

only problem is that arod has 20 stolen bases, which makes him elite across the board...

Depends if your league uses OBP or Avg.

If it uses Avg. then yeah I agree he isn't worthy of a Top 10 spot overall so far this year.

Next year will be very interesting. It would be wrong to look at just 2004 numbers to assess whether A -Rod is a first rounder or not. You have to use cummulated 3 year numbers at least and if you do, for sure A-Rod is a genuine 1st rounder.

But he won't go No.1 in many leagues if he continues his 2004 production.

Stolen bases are huge when evaluating a players value in standard roto scoring. Far outweighing HR's, Runs and RBI's. Average is nearly as important though and that is where A-Rod and Beltran fall down. Beltran in particular, he just could not be rated Top 10 with a .262 avg.

If you used OBP then it is a different story.
