I wanted to pick him up in a head to head points based league; but he's no good if he's platooning... he's been in and out of the lineup this week-- anyone know the deal with him?
Why would they promote him just to platoon him?

Yes, unfortunately your are right. Right now he is platooning, hopefully in Sept. they will let him play everyday but as of now they aren't. My best guess is they are still trying to work on his fundamentals defensively and feel it is better not to overwhelm him by playing him everyday as such an young age. Remember Lou had A-Rod when he first came up, so maybe he knows what he is doing. Hopefully with the way Upton has been swinging the bat (hitting .345 in 8 games) he will get more chances to play soon.

Who cares...BJ Upton shouldn't be on a roster right now.

No kidding Upton shouldn't be starting, unless you are in like a 30 team league. If he is platooning you should consider yourself fortunate, because hopefully it will stear you towards a decent waiver wire SS.
