what do you think of this trade?

I trade Randy Johnson, Mike Lowell, Acevedo for Jason Giambi, Keven Millwood and Benitez?

He's countered with the same trade except I add Posada and get AJ Pierzynski.


What do you guys think?

I'd go for the first trade if you need an upgrade at offense. If the other guy wants Johnson he has to pay, and he shouldn't get Posada too!

Always be wary of trading superstars. RJ is hands-down the best pitcher in the league. Pedro comes close when he's healthy, but Randy is a friggin' machine. I would say don't do it, but if you're really hurting for offense, the first trade is pretty reasonable (you'd get pretty good value for him, but no one player equal to him - I'm not sure any exist). Just make sure you won't be kicking yourself later for losing RJ.

In that trade you are losing the best pitcher in the MLB.BUT,if you have a great staff as of right know,and would have a solid staff after RJ is gone,then that's not too bad.Millwood is a real solid pickup,I believe he is going to have a great second half.Giambi is hands down the best 1B in the league.BUT,who do you have at first right now?Does he need to be replaced that much?Mike Lowell is a solid player to give up also,who would you replace him with?Benitez for Acevedo is a good trade for you because your giving up a closer who could possibly lose his job soon and plays on a bad team,and your getting a set closer on a not as bad team.I would definately not put the Posada for AJ trade in their,keep Posada,he's already getting plenty and possibly too much.
