More great baseball analysis from Ryan Fay! This time, Ryan takes a look at some tried and true performers who might not be as safe to hold on to as we've become used to.
Pedro, Bagwell ... even Armando Benitez, he of the 1.25 ERA, may be in decline. Idle speculation? Take a look at Ryan's stats...
Which veterans do you think are in for a serious decline? Which players are you looking to deal from your keeper roster before their values drop? Share your thoughts with the Cafe!
Nice read. Something overlooked by many players. But I was shocked Sammy Sosa wasn't included. Both him and Piazza are showing clear decline during the years you would expect a player to slow down.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
I'm glad people like it (so far). There was another version with a few more players, but I'm not sure what happened to that. Guys like Hideo Nomo (K/9, K/BB) and MR Felix Rodriguez (K/9) made it into the lost version.
Morris and Chipper were good to have in the list. I admit that I really hadn't payed that much attention to Chipper the last few years. Mr. Consistant .300-27ish-100.
I wish I had studied Morris's numbers more closely before the season started though. I've paid the price for it this year.

Good read and thanks for this (enlightening) info. I have to disagree with you on Chipper though. I think that if he can stay healthy, he can very well put up the numbers he has in the past.

We were saving those guys as bonus footage for the extended DVD version.
Actually, it appears that we missed Ryan's final update before going live. Apologies; the full director's cut of this article is now available, including Ryan's thoughts on Nomo, Rodriguez and more great stuff!

yeah me too. he struggled at the beginning of the year w/injuries. believe me my team knows. but now that he is back he is playing very well IMO and while it is possible he isn't as good as he once was right now, i'll still take it.
