Dye Another Day??

any thoughts on Jermaine Dye? he cooled down considerably but still is pretty solid. someone offered him to me for Corey Patterson who I was close to dropping. Either way who would you take for the rest of the season - inconsistent Patterson on top of a monster lineup or the more powerful but also inconsistent Dye in a mediocre lineup???

Depends on your needs. I am not a big Dye fan, I would be more comfortable for him so long as I could do without the 10 SBs that Patterson will get me over the rest of the season.

I've had Dye on my roster all season. Unfortunetly, he's spent most of that time since the All Star break on my bench.

It seems to me that he's very streaky, but not in the completely unpredictable way other players are. He goes on realtively LONG hot streaks and LONG cold streaks (to me seemingly lasting several weeks at a time). If you can put up with the long cold spells, he's very productive when he warms up.

And let's face it, he's due for hot streak here sooner rather than later.

Here are Patterson's numbers since being moved to the leadoff spot
.333 AVG 3HR 4SB 5R 5RBI in 9 games
It's a small sample size but it still shows improvement of Corey in the leadoff spot.
